Mobility Choice

A Mobility Choice API for CityScope Platform

Mobility Choice (MoCho) is an API developed for the CityScope platform to understand and predict individual mobility choices, particularly across urban transportation modes. Transportation choices have significant effects on individual lives and society as a whole. This API explores the influence of urban planning on mobility choices, aiming to encourage active transportation modes that improve physical and mental health while reducing negative external impacts such as carbon emissions and air pollution.

The MIT CityScope MobCho module uses a tangible user interface, allowing planners, engineers, and community members to experiment with different urban interventions and visualize predicted impacts on individual mode choice behavior and societal outcomes. The behavioral models used in the API have been calibrated using a combination of individual and aggregate census data for Greater Boston.
