NUR
NUR, Negev Urban Research, is an applied urban innovation initiative in Be'er Sheva that connects city-makers, researchers, and designers around data-based tools for regional and urban development. The lab focuses on arid human settlement and the edge-of-desert conditions shared by cities that are becoming hotter, denser, more multicultural, and more constrained by essential resources.
The initiative brings the City Science Network's local-lab model to the Negev region through a collaboration between Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, the MIT Media Lab City Science Lab, and SCE's Negev School of Architecture. Its work studies urban change through digital information and develops scalable tools for cities facing climate stress, rapid growth, and resource scarcity.
